Ambrose Jerome Barron

Ambrose J. Barron passed away on February 2, 2026, in his home, in his kitchen—exactly where he wanted to be. True to form, he lived his final days on his own terms.

He was predeceased by his wife, Annie Violet Barron (nee Costello), his eldest son, Thomas Barron, parents; Thomas and Elizabeth (nee Gunther) Barron, grandchildren; Cody Barron, Becky Ann Costello and all of his siblings. 

Ambrose leaves to mourn his children: Hazel Costello, Ursula Snook (Boyd), Joyce Barron, Paula Decker (Dave), Ann Marie Dalton (Gary), Esther Dominix (Enos), Rita Walsh (Kevin) and Cyril Barron (Rosena), along with a large circle of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Ambrose was a stubbornly independent man, an outdoorsman at heart and someone who preferred the quiet company of his shed to almost anywhere else. He could fix just about anything with an engine and spent countless hours tinkering with his “toys,” always working on something and always doing things his own way. Once he set his mind to something, there was very little that could change it.

Ambrose’s life leaves behind stories, lessons and memories—some challenging, some lighter—that have shaped the people he leaves behind.

Cremation has taken place at Ambrose’s request. Visitation will be held at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood on Thursday, February 5th from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Holyrood on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 11:00 am.

In keeping with Ambrose’s desires, those who remember him are invited to do so in their own way—perhaps by fixing something that’s been broken a little too long, spending time outdoors, or simply appreciating the freedom of doing things your own way.
