Michael "Mick" Lawrence Meaney

Michael Meaney of Avondale passed peacefully away in the presence of his family at the Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion, Carbonear on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 89 years of age.

Michael was predeceased by his parents; Michael and Anna Mae Meaney, sisters: Levina, Lucy, Madeline, Mae and Betty, brothers: John, Joe, Tommy and Woodrow, as well as members of the Jerrett family.

Left to mourn are his wife, Lynn (nee Jerrett), son Larry (Leanne), grandchildren; Brittney and Bradley, brother Albert (Leona), sister Edna, sisters-in-law: Eileen Meaney, Pat Dawson, Nancy Lindsey (Charles), along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

At Michael’s request, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood on Friday, February 13, 2026 from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm with a Funeral Service to follow at Dunphy’s Memorial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

We are all in this world together. The only test of our character that matters is how we look after the least fortunate among us and how we look after each other. Not how we look after ourselves. That’s all that really matters.
